A Father's Remembrance: Photowalk for Gene Boyd

Last November 11, 2012 photographers gathered at Punta Dumalag-Public Beach Resort (after Seagull Beach Resort) for "Golden Red Skies: Photowalk para kay Gene Boyd" to commemorate the 8th year death anniversary of photojournalist Gene Boyd Lumawag son of veteran photojournalist Rene Lumawag. The walk was organized by Arthur Yap, Biboy Palaboy (Camera Club of Davao) and Ken Bandayanon (Photobomber).
Gene Boyd, Photo Editor of MindaNews, was shot down in the pier of Jolo, Sulu on November 12, 2004, while photographing the sunset.
The photowalk was planned to end with a sunset shoot because the last frame in Gene Boyd's camera was a sunset shot but the skies were overcast so the photographers gathered along the shore with a little thank you speech of Rene Lumawag to the photographers who came then sending off of the bamboo raft with flowers and candles. It was a very meaningful commemoration and it was even more meaningful because many photographers from different groups and publications/media were united.
